Jordan Hendrikse will get another opportunity to impress as the Lions have named a heavily changed side for the Challenge Cup match against Montpellier.
Regulars such as captain Marius Louw, halfback Sanele Nohamba and No 8 Francke Horn have all remained in Johannesburg to prepare for next week’s final-round clash with Welsh side Ospreys.
The Lions matchday squad for Saturday’s match in Montpellier is similar to the one that faced Perpignan in the opening round of the tournament.
Hendrikse, who scored 23 points when the Lions were last in France, takes back the No 10 jersey, in a halfback partnership with scrumhalf Nico Steyn.
There are five changes to the side that took on Perpignan, with Stean Pienaar replacing Rabz Maxwane on the wing and Rynhardt Jonker taking over at inside centre from Zander du Plessis.
In the pack, Izan Esterhuizen replaces Ruhan Straeuli, Darrien Landsburg comes in for Raynard Roets and Conraad van Vuuren gets his first start in Lions colours.
