Morne van den Berg and Manie Rass split four tries as the Lions made light work of the Pumas in the Currie Cup match at Ellis Park on Friday.
The Lions’ raced to a 26-10 victory – their third win of the 2023 championship marked the second loss for the defending champs.
The hosts roared into a dominant lead with Rass opening the scoring before Van den Berg twice crossed the whitewash to establish a 21-3 lead at half time.

Van den Berg undid his own first-half heroics when he was shown a yellow card shortly after the break, but even with a man short the Lions stood strong, not conceding while their scrumhalf was in the sin bin.
A second try for Rass deep into the second half appeared to be the final nail in the coffin, but a try after the hooter from Pumas replacement flyhalf Brandon Thomson served as their final breath.
