Springbok and Sharks star Makazole Mapimpi is still on the radar of the Top 14 contenders, according to reports in France.
Mapimpi, along with Sharks and Springbok teammate Lukhanyo Am, were reportedly targeted by French giants Clermont, who decided against the move as their Test rugby commitments would rule them out of a good chunk of France’s domestic season.
However, according to a report by Midi Olympique’s RugbyRama, Mapimpi’s CV is among those being circulated in France, as some of the Top 14 contenders look to boost their attacking options.
This comes after Champions Cup title holders La Rochelle, who already contract Dillyn Leyds and Raymond Rhule, added England wing Jack Nowell to their roster for next season.

Mapimpi is among a host of top-level, international wings who are being considered as signings post-World Cup. This includes England’s Anthony Watson, Wallaby speedster Filipo Daugunu, the Melbourne Rebels’ Italian international Monty Ioane and All Blacks and Crusaders star Leicester Fainga’anuku.
The 32-year-old wing has scored 22 tries in 32 Test matches and was part of the recently concluded Springbok training camp held in Cape Town and Stellenbosch.
