Munster snap up South African duo

Kings flank Chris Cloete and Racing 92 lock Gerbrandt Grobler have joined Irish club Munster.

The 26-year-old Cloete, who has made 21 Super Rugby appearances for the Kings, has signed a three-year contract with Munster.

A string of standout performances propelled Cloete into the South Africa A team against the French Barbarians. There has been much speculation surrounding his future, with reports suggesting a return to Western Province and the Stormers was on the cards, but Munster have captured his signature.

Grobler, also a Western Province product, makes the move to Munster from French giants Racing.

Munster have confirmed that Grobler will join the rest of the squad during pre-season, but Cloete will only link up with his new teammates after completing his Currie Cup commitments with the Pumas.

Both signings are subject to being granted valid work permits and medical clearance.
