New Zealand overpowered the Blitzboks to win a one-sided final and claim the Sydney Sevens cup on Sunday.
Having produced a fantastic defensive effort to beat Fiji in the semi-finals, the Springboks Sevens went into the final hopeful of claiming their second cup title of the season.
However, in the final they came up against a New Zealand ready to extract vengeance for the pool defeat in Sydney.
It took New Zealand three minutes to run in the opening try through rising star Roderick Solo and the onslaught continued from there as a further two tries gave the All Blacks a 17-0 lead and left South Africa with a mountain to climb.
The Blitzboks had their opportunities in the second half, but just could get the ball to hand at the crucial moments, while New Zealand were clinical as ever.
In the end, a further three tries saw New Zealand win 38-0 and claim their first cup title in Australia since 2019.
