Former All Blacks centre Ma’a Nonu has agreed to another year with the San Diego Legion in America’s Major League Rugby, taking him through his 42nd birthday.
San Diego Legion coach and director of rugby Danny Lee, himself a former All Black, announced the news ahead of the 2024 MLR season.
“The Legend is back for another year,” Lee said in a statement.
“We are thrilled to have Ma’a back for the 2024 MLR season after an outstanding 2023. Ma’a had a major influence on our team last season on and off the field and was a major factor in us having a very successful season, playing in the MLR final and us breaking Club and League records along the way. We go again.”
Now 41, Nonu last pulled on an All Blacks jersey in 2015, but is showing no signs of slowing down.
The two-time World Cup winner slotted a drop goal in last year’s semi-finals as San Diego finished as silver medalists.
With the 2024 MLR season scheduled to get underway in March, Nonu is set to celebrate his 42nd birthday during the campaign.
