Duane Vermeulen is the man to take over from Jacques Nienaber as Bok defence coach, according to SARugbymag.co.za readers.
Polled on who should assume control of Nienaber’s department, 47% of readers voted for Vermeulen despite him holding no prior coaching roles.
The recently retired Vermeulen, who was spotted in the coaching box during South Africa’s World Cup loss to Ireland, has also been linked with a coaching role at the Stormers.
Another Bok World Cup winner, Lions defence coach Jaque Fourie (24%) won nearly a quarter of the vote to come in second, while Stormers defence coach Norman Laker (10%) narrowly edged Sharks defence coach Joey Mongalo (9%).
