Coach Labeeb Levy is waiting to hear if Western Province utility back Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu passes an HIA test and is available to face the Griffons on Saturday.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who can play flyhalf, centre and fullback, was ruled out of last week’s first home game in the 2023 Currie Cup for Province – a 32-13 defeat to Griquas at Cape Town Stadium.
WP have been disrupted by injuries, notably among the backs, and the 21-year-old took a blow to the head in a loss to the Sharks in Durban on 26 March.
Speaking during a WP conference on Tuesday, interim head coach Levy told reporters that the former Junior Springbok skipper is set to undergo an evaluation before this week’s clash against the Griffons in Cape Town.

“Sacha had that head knock against Sharks and is still on the return-to-play HIA,” Levy said. “I think it must be his HIA 3 test tomorrow [Wednesday] or Thursday and then the medical team will make a call on him, so hopefully it goes well.
“If not, we’ll have to fill that gap again.”
Back in training, Angelo Davids is in contention for selection – the winger hasn’t played since featuring for the DHL Stormers against the Sharks in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship last month.
Hooker Scarra Ntubeni added: “Last weekend didn’t go as planned for us but this week we’ve got a few old-new players back… Sacha, Angelo, guys with a bit of experience and who’ve played URC.”
