Argentina suffered a major blow when veteran prop Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro was ruled out of the World Cup after rupturing his Achilles tendon, the country’s federation said.
Tetaz Chaparro, 34, who plays with Treviso in Italy and is a veteran of the 2015 and 2019 global showpieces, suffered the injury during a Los Pumas pre-World Cup training camp at Faro in Portugal.

The Argentineans begin their World Cup campaign against England in Marseille on 9 September before taking on Japan, Samoa and Chile in their other Pool D fixtures.

Pumas coach Michael Cheika on Wednesday called up Mayco Vivas and Lucio Sordoni as replacement players for the Faro camp.
The South Americans face Spain in Madrid on Saturday in a warm-up match.
