Rampant Bulls blitz Griffons

David Kriel scored a hat-trick of tries as the Vodacom Bulls overwhelmed the Griffons in a Currie Cup shootout at Loftus Versfeld on Friday night.

Though the match was delayed by three hours by a power failure in Pretoria, the Bulls showed no signs of distraction as they ran in 10 tries in a 64-33 victory against Griffons to climb into fourth place on the standings with their fourth straight victory.

Kriel was joined on the list of try-scorers by Marcell Coetzee (2), Stedman Gans, Embrose Papier, Nizaam Carr, Cornal Hendricks and Mornay Smith as the Bulls built on a 26-18 half-time lead with six tries in the second half.

The Griffons deserve credit for tallying 33 points on the visitors side of the Loftus scoreboard. Fullback Duan Pretorius crossed for two of the Griffons’ four tries while scrumhalf Jaywinn Juries kicked 11 points.
