Rassie Erasmus will reportedly “get his way” and receive the approval of SA Rugby’s executive committee to bring Nigel Owens on board to help the Springboks.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, SA’s director of rugby Erasmus’ request for the respected former referee to join the Springbok camp as part of their preparation for the upcoming World Cup has already been given the go ahead.
It is understood that an official decision on Owens’ inclusion will be made on Monday.
“The coach always gets his way,” a source told the newspaper.

“The Springboks are the very first priority for SA Rugby,” another source told Rapport. “The team management knows better than anyone in a committee room what the team needs most to succeed.
“When they have done their job and identified those individuals, proper processes will follow.”
In his column for WalesOnline, Owens addressed the matter of potentially helping the South Africans prepare to defend the Webb Ellis Cup in six months’ time.
He said “there’s a lot” for him to consider on whether he joins the world champions after Erasmus confirmed last week that he has been in contact with the Welshman over the possibility of working as a specialist refereeing consultant for the Boks.
