SA Rugby has confirmed the appointment of a new five-person board, with Andre Rademan as chairman, to manage the Southern Kings.
SA Rugby assumed management control of the Kings on 19 June following the decision to take back a 74% shareholding in the franchise after equity partner – the Greatest Rugby Company in the Whole Wide World (GRC) – was unable to meet contractual commitments.
The national governing body on Friday announced that Rademan (president of the Eastern Province Rugby Union), has been appointed as the new chairman and is joined by Mbulelo Gidane (chairman of the EPRU Finance and Human Resources Committee), SA Rugby Executive Council nominees Monde Tabata and Jannie Louw, and independent member Gugu Nxiweni, who has been retained from the previous board.
The EPRU have two places on the board as the minority shareholder (26%).
The Kings preparations for a return-to-play are being handled by director of rugby Robbie Kempson, who is being supported by the SA Rugby’s director of rugby Rassie Erasmus.
