Springbok World Cup-winners Makazole Mapimpi and Tendai Mtawarira will both start for the Barbarians against Fiji at Twickenham on Saturday.
Mapimpi and Mtawarira, who played big roles in the Boks’ World Cup win over Eddie Jones’ England, are among the seven South Africans to be named in Jones’ starting lineup for the invitational side.
The backline includes Dillyn Leyds on the wing, midfielder Andre Esterhuizen and flyhalf Curwin Bosch. In the pack, Mtawarira is joined by flank Marco van Staden and Scotland-capped No 8 Josh Strauss.
There are a further three South African players on the bench. Veteran scrumhalf Jano Vermaak, who replaced Herschel Jantjies in the squad, is named along with centre Lukhanyo Am and flyhalf Morne Steyn.
The team will be captained by retiring Ireland hooker Rory Best.
