Grey College shrugged off the absence of several SA U18 players to beat Paul Roos and cap off an unbeaten season, while Garsfontein and EG Jansen progressed to the Noordvaal Cup final.
In the weekend’s big derby in Bloemfontein, Grey put the cherry on top of a sensational campaign by claiming a 28-20 victory over Stellenbosch’s Paul Roos.
Grey College were without six of their regular first team players, including captain and No 8 JJ Theron and flyhalf Ian van der Merwe, due to the U18 International Series.

However, with Keagan Scholtz filling Theron’s boots at No 8, the hosts avenged last year’s 34-19 loss in Stellenbosch to complete a 16-0 season.
Meanwhile, in the Noordvaal Cup, Garsfontein and EG Jansen secured their places in the final by beating Helpmekaar and Waterkloof respectively.
Garsfontein, who are unbeaten in the cup and have only lost to Grey College this year, fought to a 29-20 victory, while EG Jansen won 25-5.
There was epic drama in the Premier Interschools derby as Boland Landbou hooker Cilliers Viljoen scored a last-gasp try to snatch a 17-11 victory against Oakdale.
Rondebosch and Bishops warmed up for the second leg of their derby with nail-biting wins against Wynberg and SACS respectively.
