Following a break for the annual Youth Weeks, schools rugby resumes across the country this week with a clash between Outeniqua High and Paarl Gymnasium.
Paarl Gymnasium travels to George on Saturday to face Outeniqua who are celebrating their centenary. Outeniqua made a hot start to their season with four wins in a row before they encountered a very slick Grey College at home. The giants from Bloemfontein edged Gym in a thriller.
Since then, Outeniqua have won three of their last four and signed off for the season’s break by beating Oakdale 25-14.
Meanwhile, Paarl Gym have played 13 matches so far and after a close call against Stellenberg at the start of the season (24-23), they struggled to contain the mighty Grey College at the North-South festival (12-33). They have won everything since then, racking up 10 straight wins. They would want to continue their good form going into the big Interschools against Paarl Boy’ High in early August.
Elsewhere in the country on Saturday, Affies host Maritzburg College, while Graeme College take on Pearson High, Garsfontein will look to get a sixth win in a row against Helpmekaar and Pretoria Boys High are up against KES.
