Siya Kolisi’s participation in this year’s World Cup is reportedly in jeopardy after scans on the Springbok skipper’s injured knee reveal the worst.
The Sharks captain appeared to hurt his right knee in the opening 10 minutes of the clash between the Durbanites and Munster in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship.
He tried to soldier on after spending some time getting it strapped up, but he was quickly substituted and watched from the sidelines as his teammates let a 19-point lead slip in a 22-22 draw at Kings Park.
According to a report on IOL Sport , the 31-year-old has suffered an apparent partial tear to his anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) as well as injured his meniscus on both sides of his knee.
IOL Sport further reports that a source close to the matter revealed that Kolisi has already seen two specialists, one who has recommended surgery, and it is understood that the loose forward will see a third on Tuesday for another opinion.

Director of rugby Neil Powell confirmed post-match that Kolisi and flyhalf Curwin Bosch will be assessed before further updates on their injuries ahead of a trip for the Sharks to Ireland to face Leinster in the URC quarter-finals on Saturday, 6 May.
On Monday, a cryptic post from Kolisi’s wife Rachel on social media indicated that his injury on Saturday is worse than suspected. She posted a photo on Instagram of her husband’s strapped hand along with a message asking for prayer.
“Believing for a miracle,” she wrote. “Would really appreciate if you would take a minute out your day to pray with us.”
