Springbok legends welcome new Roc Nation recruits in inspiring video

Springbok World Cup winners Cheslin Kolbe and Beast Mtawarira have shared words of wisdom with the next generation of rugby talent in a special video released by Roc Nation Sports International.

The video features Kolbe and Mtawarira offering advice, career tips and a special welcoming message to two up-and-coming South African rugby players, Luyolo Doyi and Zukisani Tom, who have recently been signed by Roc Nation Sports International.

In the video – produced by RNSI Productions – the Springbok legends share their career experiences and advice, offering valuable insights and encouragement to the aspiring young players.

Connecting over a Zoom chat, Kolbe dialled in from Japan, and pinpointed the key contributing factors to his success such as dedication, hard work and self belief.

Meanwhile, Mtawarira touched on some of the important lessons that he learned over the course of an iconic career, and also shared tips on how best to prepare for life after rugby.

“We are incredibly proud to welcome Luyolo and Zukisani to the Roc Nation Sports International family,” said Mahlatse Mashua, the Managing Director of Roc Nation Sports International in Africa. “We are committed to supporting their career development and helping them achieve their full potential in the sport.”

RNSI’s head of recruiting in South Africa, Tamsanqa Ncwana, added: “This special Zoom chat was also a wonderful way to introduce these talented players to two World Cup winning legends, who are the ideal role-models for any young sports people such as Luyolo Doyi and Zukisani Tom.”

Tom hails from the Eastern Cape, where he went to Grey High – the same school attended by Springbok captain Siya Kolisi – and featured for EP at two Craven Week tournaments.

The talented and versatile 20-year-old – who can play at flank or on the wing – was recently snapped up by French club Racing 92, where Kolisi plies his trade as well.

Doyi is also recognised as one of the brightest young prospects on the South African rugby scene, having made a name for himself at Hoërskool Overkruin, earning Craven Week selection in 2022 and 2023.

The 18-year-old utility back captained the Blue Bulls Sevens team in 2022, and has now set his sights on progressing as rapidly as possible into the senior set-up at the Pretoria-based franchise.
