More Springboks commit to Sharks

Springboks Sbu Nkosi and Curwin Bosch are the latest players confirmed to have extended their contracts at the Sharks until the end of the 2022 season.

This comes after announcements that Springbok trio Makazole Mapimpi, Lukhanyo Am and Sikhumbuzo Notshe had all committed to the union among a spree of confirmed re-signings in Durban.

The 24-year-old Nkosi, who won the World Cup with the Springboks last year, has been with the Sharks since 2016, making his senior debut for the franchise in 2017.

Bosch, still just 23 years old, was in superb form for the Sharks during the 2020 Vodacom Super Rugby season earlier this year and was the team’s top point-scorer for 2020 before the season halted in March. He was understood to be sought after during the contentious 21-day ‘transfer window’ back in May, but his decision to commit his future to the Sharks will come as a massive boost for Sean Everitt’s side.

The Sharks also announced that a number of younger players have extended their stay at the franchise. Loose forward Evan Roos, hookers Fez Mbatha and Dylan Richardson and tighthead prop Khutha Mchunu have all also signed on until 2022.

The Durban-based franchise was confirmed to have signed another young hooker in Dan Jooste from Western Province on Monday.
