Montpellier utility back Frans Steyn has appealed the four-week ban handed down for a dangerous tackle on Johnny Sexton in a European Champions Cup match last month.

Steyn received a red card for the infringement, and was subsequently suspended until 6 March.

However, he will now look to have the ban reduced, with Montpellier set to take on Toulouse in the Top 14 on 18 February.
