Stormers suffer Kleyn setback

Stormers lock Jean Kleyn could be sidelined for four months after sustaining a wrist injury in Saturday's pre-season match against the Jaguares at Newlands.

Kleyn, who started at No 4 lock against Argentina's first-ever Super Rugby side, would have served as back-up to Eben Etzebeth in that very position, but now looks set to miss a large part of the Stormers' season.

Although the full extent of the injury has not been confirmed, forwards coach Russell Winter hinted that Rynhardt Elstadt, who is vying for a spot in the loose trio, might be ulitised in the second row.

'Rynhardt is extremely fit and will give 100% regardless of where he plays. He's excellent in the lineouts, aggressive and a good ball carrier,' Winter told Die Burger.
