Strauss to leave the Bulls

Former Scotland international Josh Strauss will not be remaining with the Vodacom Bulls after just a brief stint with the Pretoria-based side.

Strauss confirmed to Netwerk24′s Cobus Claassen that his time was ‘done with the Bulls’, which prematurely ends a previous two-year deal he first signed with the team in 2019.

The 33-year-old referenced how he had come back to South Africa ‘100% because of family reasons’, with former Bulls coach Pote Human allowing him to commute between Pretoria and Cape Town, where his family is based.

However, Strauss suggested the team environment had changed significantly in recent times, and that he would now need to weigh up his options to see what the future held.

‘I have been a professional player for a good 14 years and can honestly say that I enjoyed my short time with the Bulls the most.  You were immediately made welcome by everyone in the group and there were no egos. Coach Pote is one of the best people I have ever met.

‘That’s the thing with perceptions. One guy thinks you’re a leader and can offer something and the next guy doesn’t think so. It’s a shame things worked out that way.’
