Leicester Tigers are hopeful that Jasper Wiese will commit his future to the Premiership club with the World Cup-winning Springbok No 8 set to snub a move to Stade Francais.
According to widespread reports, Wiese had been in advanced talks about a move to France after his impressive form caught the eye of the Top 14 outfit.
The 28-year-old played a pivotal role in Leicester’s league triumph in 2022, and has been capped 27 times by SA including a World Cup final appearance off the bench against the All Blacks.
It is understood that new Tigers head coach Dan McKellar is eager to retain the Bok powerhouse, but CEO Andrea Pinchen is adamant about preserving the current salary cap, and the allure of the euro for top-tier players like Wiese cannot be ignored.

“We are in conversations with him [Wiese] and his agent,” McKellar was quoted by the UK’s Daily Mail.
“He loves the Tigers, he has got a young family now, and is very settled. We are hoping we keep him here for the next few years. When you have got someone in your camp and they are enjoying the environment and the players they are playing with, you give yourself a chance of keeping them.
“I don’t know how many euros he is being offered elsewhere. He is a valuable player and teams from France and Japan are always going to come knocking for world-class players.
“We just hope the environment and being at the club he’s loved being involved in for the last few years will help keep him.”
