Top 20 schools rankings (23 June)

With most of the FNB Top 20-ranked schools opting not to play during the exams, only Paarl Gym and Stellenberg have moved up in the rankings.

Amid the June examinations and provincial trials for Craven and Grant Khomo Weeks, interschool matches were reduced for a second successive week.

The two best-ranked sides in the country, Paarl Boys' and Paul Roos, clashed over the weekend with Boishaai triumphant over the Maroon Machine. The result strengthened both the Boland sides' positions at the summit of the list. In the only change to the top half, Paarl Gym continued their steady rise by unseating Monument in third spot, with the latter dropping to fourth following their 22-22 draw with the unseeded Kempton Park.

Lower down, Stellenberg make a reappearance at the foot of the list by overthrowing Helpmekaar in 20th place.

Over at, Paul Roos were relegated three places from third to sixth following their 29-10 defeat against the top-ranked Paarl Boys'. The decline of the Maroon Machine, benefit Michaelhouse, Paarl Gym and Monument, who all move up one spot to complete the top five.

Oakdale also slip down the order from 11th to 12th on the back of their narrow 31-28 loss to Gimmies, with Eldoraigne now occupying 11th place. Bishops are rewarded for their 36-23 victory over southern suburbs rivals Rondebosch, rising four places to 15th. The promotion see Noord-Kaap, Nelspruit and Dale move down one spot each.

St Benedict's, who surprised Pretoria Boys' 45-36, and SACS, who beat arch-rivals Wynberg 22-5, are the new additions to the elite list, at the expense of Boland Landbou and Middelburg.
