Blitzboks sensation Ricardo Duarttee is one of three nominees for the World Rugby Sevens Series Rookie of the Year accolade.
The Blitzboks playmaker has been shortlisted alongside Argentina’s Joaquin Pellandini and Frenchman Theo Forner. Duarttee has enjoyed a meteoric 2022-23, marking his series debut with a place in the dream team from the Dubai leg of the 11-stop circuit.

The 25-year-old scored four tries – including a brace versus Samoa – and kicked five conversions to help South Africa win a fourth title on the spin in the desert, and their 10th overall.
With London set to host the season’s final leg this weekend, Duarttee – dubbed ‘Tricky Ricky’ – is eighth on the list of leading point-scorers with 196.
