The Cheetahs put more than 50 points on a weakened Lions side that conceded a red card in the Currie Cup clash at Ellis Park on Sunday.
The Lions opened the scoring within a minute of the first whistle, but the Cheetahs responded with a try five minutes later.
The travelling side extended their lead with another converted try before a foul-fest took hold of the final third.
In the space of 15 minutes, Cheetahs captain Ruan Pienaar was yellow-carded, followed by a yellow for Julrich Claasens of the Lions and finished with a red card flashed at Lions lock Raynard Roets just before half time.

While the half-time score reflected a contest, a young Lions side missing players on duty in the Challenge Cup was not able to recover from the red card. They let in five tries in the second half while managing only one themselves.

Ruan Pienaar’s precise boot, a hat-trick from electric fullback Tapiwa Mafura and a 40-minute try-scoring flurry saw the Cheetahs finish the game emphatic victors, with a final score of 52-15.
