Bristol Bears director of rugby Pat Lam has voiced his frustration at messages of inconsistency in rugby’s judicial system, following the three-match suspension of Siale Piutau for punching – claiming the team’s captain only acted in self-defence.
Bristol centre Piutau and Worcester Warriors lock Andrew Kitchener both received three-match bans after an altercation during their English Premiership clash last week.
Pat Lam wanted the floor to address Siale Piutau’s three-match ban.
“You’ve got to have self-defense. You should be able to defend yourself if someone attacks you lie that.”
“What do I say to his wife & kids if he gets a whack in the head?”
