The four nominees are:

JACQUES-LOUIS POTGIETER
Potgieter was the standout for the Bulls against the Hurricanes in Napier. The flyhalf kept his side in touch in the first half through some crucial penalty kicks. He also sparked the Bulls' first try, and was on hand to provide fullback Jürgen Visser with the final pass.

SAREL PRETORIUS
The Cheetahs scrumhalf was in top form against the Chiefs in Bloemfontein as a runner and a distributor. Apart from scoring two tries of his own, he was a constant threat around the fringes of the ruck, and even more dangerous on the counter-attack. His great passing also allowed the Cheetahs' to maintain their attacking momentum.

JACO KRIEL
The Lions No 6 flank carried the ball strongly for the Lions against the Crusaders at Ellis Park, often breaking tackles to get well over the advantage line. He also gave the try-scoring pass to Lionel Mapoe and helped to hold up Ryan Crotty when the Crusaders centre appeared to have scored his second try.

DUANE VERMEULEN
The Stormers captain had a colossal game against the Waratahs at Newlands at the breakdowns and collisions. The powerful No 8 breached the gainline regularly, and also effected some timely turnovers on the deck. If the rest of the Stormers players had matched the effort of their skipper, the Cape franchise would have won.
