Head coach John Dobson has bolstered the Western Province lineup with several DHL Stormers stars for Saturday’s Currie Cup match against the Cheetahs in Cape Town.
Centre Jean-Luc du Plessis, flank Junior Pokomela and lock Gary Porter all come into the starting XV having travelled to Exeter with the defending Vodacom United Rugby Championship winners in the Champions Cup last week.
Scrumhalf Thomas Bursey, flank Jarrod Taylor and hooker Andre-Hugo Venter also come into the run-on group, while centre Cornel Smit makes his return from injury from the replacements bench.
RACE FOR URC PLAYOFFS: What each SA team needs
Province will be looking to make it back-to-back home wins against Free State teams following their seven-try victory against the Griffons this past weekend.
Dobson, who will also oversee the Stormers’ URC clash with Munster in the second match of an exciting double-header at Cape Town Stadium, said that the players coming in are all keen to make an impact.
“We have some good players coming into a team coming off a good win, so hopefully we can raise our standards even further this week,” he added.
“There should be a great atmosphere at the stadium and we want to make the most of that and back-up on our performance last week.”
