Herschel Jantjies scalped a third Springbok in the battle to determine who made the most impressive Test debut, now he tackles one of the most inspirational Boks.
Schalk Burger was the latest Bok whose international bow doesn’t match the heights of Jantjies’ introduction to Test rugby. According to a whopping 69% of readers, the sniping scrumhalf made the more memorable Test debut, a result that propels Jantjies into the penultimate round of this poll series.
ICYMI – All Blacks take Boks to Auckland
Jantjies is unbeaten after blitzing Bryan Habana in the first round before edging Tonderai Chavhanga by a nose hair.
Now, Jantjies takes on Siya Kolisi, who made his debut on 15 June, 2013 – the day before his 22nd birthday – in a match against Scotland at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Kolisi replaced the injured Arno Botha in the fifth minute, coming off the bench to produce a man-of-the-match performance in a 30-17 victory for the Boks.
Not overwhelmed by the occasion, the young loose forward married hard running, strong mauling and powerful ball carries with intuitive link-play and no-nonsense tackling.
