Swys de Bruin believes that Jaco van der Walt would be an excellent signing for the Vodacom Bulls, especially with rumours swirling of Morne Steyn’s retirement.
The Vodacom Bulls have been heavily linked to bringing Van der Walt back to South Africa from Edinburgh as Jake White continues to bolster his squad for next season.

According to Rapport, Van der Walt is being lined up to fill the void after veteran flyhalf Morne Steyn’s contract with the Highvelders ends in June, when the veteran is expected to hang up his boots.
De Bruin worked closely with Van der Walt at the Lions before the playmaker decided to continue his career in Scotland and believes he would be an astute signing for the Vodacom Bulls.
“Jaco is an outstanding player. At the time, we at the Lions were sad to lose him, but he wanted to play flyhalf and Elton (Jantjies) played the best rugby of his career at that stage,” De Bruin told Netwerk24.
“I remember Jaco was in tears when he came to break the news that he was going to Scotland.
“He was a good team man with us and he is now much more experienced and will return to South Africa with great knowledge.
“Jaco has an enormous kicking foot and knows how to play deep and shallow,” the former Springbok assistant coach added. “He will be a smart signing, but then you have to back him in terms of playing chances. It is precisely because he left the Lions at the time.”
