The Vodacom Bulls have remained “true to the blue” in their home jerseys over the years, but which was the best of the lot?
The Bulls are centre stage in the next edition of this poll series to determine the most popular jersey from each of the Bulls, Cheetahs, Lions, Sharks and DHL Stormers.
1997
Playing in the second season of the Super 12, the team from Loftus Versfeld donned a jersey almost turquoise in colour, styled with red lines on the sleeves that also featured on the shorts.
2001
In 2001 the Bulls went with a traditional light blue jersey that featured dark blue bands running down the shoulders onto the sleeves.
2007
The Bulls’ 2007 jersey was a winner in more ways than one.
Featuring a clean transition from darker to lighter blue on the front and split-coloured sleeves, the iconic strip was worn when the Bulls won their first Super Rugby title.
2010
Another jersey, another Super Rugby title. The Bulls went back to a lighter tinge of blue for the 2010 season when they were crowned back-to-back champions.
2016
The 2016 Bulls kit took on a more literal representation in the form of a graphic of a bull on the front of the jersey.
2019
Based on comic book hero “Captain America”, the Bulls donned a Marvel-inspired kit in 2019.
2022-23
This blue kit took the Pretoria side all the way to the 2022-23 URC quarter-finals and was the last Bulls jersey worn by the iconic Morne Steyn.
2023-24
The Bulls’ current strip features the word “BULLS” as an ambigram graphic all over the jersey and forms part of their “Welcome to the Capital of Rugby” campaign centred around fans, players and culture of the club.
