• Strong squad for Blitzboks Academy

Several players with World Series experience will form part of the SA Sevens Academy squad at the upcoming tournaments in Harare and Dubai.

The Harare tournament takes places this coming weekend (29 and 30 November) and will serve as the CAR (Confederation of African Rugby) qualifying tournament to determine an additional African country for the Hong Kong Sevens in March 2015.

The Dubai Invitational takes place a week later and will form part of the sevens festival in the United Arab Emirates, along with the World Series, the Women's Series and junior events for boys and girls.

Senior players Chris Dry, Steven Hunt, WJ Strydom, Shaun Adendorff and Rosco Speckman have been included in the Academy squad, along with a couple promising players who have been contracted to the SA Sevens Academy in Stellenbosch.

They include CUT Varsity Cup flanker Vincent Maruping, Western Province wing Devon Williams and former Bulls utility back Dewald Human.

The tournament in Harare will consist of 12 African teams, divided into two groups, where the two top-placed teams in each group will contest the semi-finals.
