Eben Etzebeth is renowned as one of the hardest men in rugby, but the Springbok bruiser will show off his acting chops when he makes his debut on Binnelanders.
Fans of the popular soapie on DStv’s kykNET are in for a treat as the towering lock makes an appearance on Thursday, 10 August and Friday, 11 August.
Etzebeth, who is preparing to participate in the World Cup in September, will first be seen on screen when he is admitted to Binneland Kliniek after a shoulder injury.
On screen, Dr. Tertius Jonker (Reynhardt Hugo) does everything in his power to make sure the injury is not serious and that Etzebeth is ready for France.
Binnelanders producer Elsje Stark is quoted as saying the experience of working with the 31-year-old Test centurion was a joy.

“Not only is he a great forward, but he is also at home in front of the cameras,” Stark said.
“He was well prepared for his ‘role’, although his actress wife Anlia probably had a lot to do with it. We would welcome Eben back any time.’’
Etzebeth is one of 16 players who did not travel to Argentina to face Los Pumas on Saturday, and remained in Johannesburg, where they are training under director of rugby Rassie Erasmus.
Erasmus and head coach Jacques Nienaber are set to name the final group of 33 for the World Cup on Tuesday, 8 August.
