The Vodacom Bulls have continued a busy day of signings by announcing the capture of one of the Stormers’ Vodacom United Rugby Championship winners for next season.
Having returned to South Africa after one season in Japan, winger Sergeal Petersen became the third player to be announced as a new signing by the Vodacom Bulls on Thursday.
This comes after the Pretoria side confirmed that flyhalf Jaco van der Walt and tighthead prop Khutha Mchunu will also be moving to Loftus Versfeld ahead of next season.
Petersen, who joined Western Province Rugby from the Cheetahs in 2018, replaced the injured Leolin Zas – the top try-scorer in the 2021-22 URC season – when the Stormers beat the Bulls in the inaugural final.
Able to play on both wings or at fullback, the 28-year-old left to continue his career in Japan, but it is understood that the Bulls are keen on him as cover for Springboks Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie.
Petersen is the sixth player to sign for Jake White’s team, following utility forward Jannes Kirsten, utility back Henry Immelman and Springbok tighthead prop Wilco Louw.
