The Cheetahs have bolstered their ranks by recruiting a former Stormers playmaker who has returned to South Africa following a stint in Europe.
According to Netwerk24, former Stormers flyhalf Abner van Reenen will join the Cheetahs from 1 July.
A product of Paarl Boys High and former Junior Springbok, Van Reenen was a highly-rated young talent who came through the Western Province youth ranks, but found his time at the Stormers affected by injuries.

The 24-year-old moved to Italy in 2021, where he has been playing for the Rovigo Delta, coached by Allister Coetzee.
By joining the Cheetahs, Van Reenen will effectively replace Siya Masuku, who is off to the Sharks next season.
The Cheetahs have also reportedly signed NWU Eagles hooker Vernon Paulo, who finished this season as the Varsity Cup’s top try-scorer for 2023.
