Stormers rocked by second-row crisis

De Kock Steenkamp has been ruled out for the rest of the Stormers' tour with a groin injury.

The No 5 lock will consult a specialist when he arrives back in Cape Town. Steenkamp joins Rynhardt Elstadt, Eben Etzebeth, Manuel Carizza, Jean Kleyn and Gerbrandt Grobler on the Stormers' lengthy list of injured locks.

Michael Rhodes will be considered for this week's clash against the Brumbies, as will youngster Jurie van Vuuren.

The Stormers have also confirmed that Jaco Taute will miss the game in Canberra due to a shoulder injury. Gio Aplon is set to start at fullback, and Sailosi Tagicakibau on the wing.

The good news for the Stormers is that Springbok centre Juan de Jongh has recovered from a hamstring injury and will join the team in Australia. Prop Frans Malherbe, who is over his toe injury, is also available for selection.
