Reports have emerged that Maties head coach Matt Proudfoot is one of the frontrunners to fill the vacancy of forwards coach at the Lions.
Albert van den Berg opted not to renew his contract with the Lions Rugby Company in April, and according to an article in Sunday newspaper Rapport, Proudfoot is a leading candidate to replace him.

Former Lions skipper Warren Whiteley and fellow ex-Springbok Wessel Roux are the names also believed to be in the hat for the job at Ellis Park.
Whiteley, an assistant coach at the Sharks, is likely to face opposition from his current employers for a release, while Roux is already on staff at the Lions and understood to have the inside track.
