The Cheetahs are the reported subject of interest from the owners of Welsh club Ospreys, which could result in a host of players moving to Swansea.
According to a report by WalesOnline, Ospreys owners Y-11 Sports & Media are close to finalising a deal to buy a share in the Cheetahs.
Y-11 currently owns a majority stake in the Ospreys, while they also have a 25% share in the Hurricanes.
If the deal is successful, a number of Cheetahs players could join the Ospreys on loan for the rest of the season. Names mentioned in the report are scrumhalf Rewan Kruger, hooker Marnus van der Merwe, and speedster Daniel Kasende.
The Cheetahs will take part in this season’s EPCR Challenge Cup as an invitational side. They will face Zebre and the Sharks in December, before taking on French teams Pau and Oyonnax in January.
World Rugby’s laws do not allow the same owner to have a majority share in two clubs in the same competition, but that is not expected to prevent Y-11’s investment into the reigning Currie Cup champions.
