English Premiership club Leicester Tigers has confirmed the signing of Paul Roos graduate Cameron Miell, who became the latest South African youngster to move abroad after school.
Miell, who can operate throughout the pack but was mainly utilised at loosehead prop in his final year at Paul Roos, has joined Leicester’s academy after playing for the Maroon Machine’s U19 A team for the past two years.
The young forward was part of the talented Paul Roos side that produced a thrilling comeback to beat Paarl Gimnasium in 2022.
“I am delighted to be awarded this fantastic opportunity with Leicester Tigers and cannot wait to test myself and learn in such a world-class environment,” Miell was quoted by Leicester’s website.
Interim Leicester head coach Richard Wigglesworth said he is delight to welcome Miell to Leicester.
“Cameron is a young man with a physical presence on the field and a lot of potential in the game,” the former scrumhalf said.
“In a very short space of time, he has shown a real work ethic and desire to improve. We’re excited to see what comes of Cameron and working with him to develop his game at Leicester Tigers.”
