World Cup organisers threatened with legal action

Organisers of the 2023 World Cup in France are being threatened with legal action over concerns about the way bids were handled.

According to the Daily Mail, English kit manufacturer Rhino are fuming over the nature of the bidding process to become the official supplier for training kit during the World Cup.

Rhino had the contract for the past three World Cups in Japan, England and New Zealand, but have now claimed that 2023 World Cup officials refused to meet them.

Aramis, a smaller company based in the UK and France, won the contract to supply tackle bags and pads during the 2023 showpiece.

The Daily Mail reports that Rhino have written a legal letter to the 2023 organising committee requesting an investigation into the awarding of contracts, claiming that they were not given a fair opportunity and that Aramis were allegedly offered favourable terms.

This is the latest controversial incident to plague the build-up to to the World Cup, with organising committee chief Claude Atcher sacked last October, following a police raid of their French headquarters.
