Evan Roos has come under fire on social media for his dangerous tackle on Matt Fagerson during the Stormers’ loss against the Glasgow Warriors on Friday.
Playing at blindside flanker as opposed to his usual slot at No 8, Roos was yellow-carded in the first half of a 20-9 defeat at the Scotstoun Stadium, that ended a two-match unbeaten run for the Stormers in the Vodacom URC.
The 23-year-old has previously copped flak for getting involved in off-the-ball niggle, with some arguing that his abrasive style is what likely cost him a spot in the Springbok World Cup squad.
Former Bok skipper John Smit was once quoted saying the five-Test loose forward must “just know how to bottle” his passion, with a fan on X, formerly Twitter suggesting that Roos take a leaf out of national teammate Jasper Wiese’s playbook.

This isn’t ok from Roos.
It’s daft, undisciplined, pointless and potentially highly dangerous.
Needs to take a leaf out of Jasper Wiese’s book who was a liability, but changed his behaviours and remains an equally fearsome prospect on the pitch.pic.twitter.com/Bz0Nz5e7tk
