Defending champions, the Pumas remain the only unbeaten team in the 2023 Currie Cup, as the Griffons opened their account in the fourth round of the competition.
The Pumas beat the Cheetahs 61-21 at Free State Stadium on Friday, before the Griffons gained their first win since their promotion back to the Premier Division when they defeated the Vodacom Bulls by 32-28 in a lightning-interrupted game in Welkom.
Victory for Jimmy Stonehouse’s troops in Bloemfontein propelled them to the top of the standings with four wins from four, while the defeat was the second-placed Free Staters’ first of the season.
