It was four wins for all the hosts in round 3 of the Currie Cup, with holders Pumas and Cheetahs staying unbeaten, and the Lions getting on the board, but the Vodacom Bulls and Griffons are still winless.
The Lions opened the weekend’s third round action on Friday with a morale-boosting 41-26 comeback win over Griffons. That encounter was followed by the big clash in Bloemfontein where log-leaders, the Cheetahs, defeated the Bulls 32-7 and after that, the Pumas claimed a 28-13 win over the Griquas in Nelspruit.
The weekend’s last game was staged on Sunday afternoon in Durban, where the Sharks outscored their coastal rivals Western Province by 20-7 for the Durbanites’ second victory of the competition.
