The Vodacom Bulls claimed bragging rights in the Jukskei Derby while logging an invaluable home win to climb up the standings heading into a two-week pause in the Vodacom URC.
In the only match in the competition at the weekend, Johan Goosen kicked a late penalty goal for the Bulls – while Lions replacement Jordan Hendrikse missed a penalty attempt in injury time – to snatch a 30-28 victory at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday in a game in which the teams were only two points apart at different stages of the match.

The victory for the Pretoria outfit saw them climb from sixth place on the URC log to fourth after nine rounds and retain their unbeaten record at home this season, while the Lions are now in 10th place courtesy of a losing bonus point.
When the URC resumes on the weekend of 16 to 18 February, the Bulls will travel south on the N1 to take on the Lions in Johannesburg, while the Sharks and Stormers, in 16th and seventh places on the table respectively, lock horns in a blockbuster derby in Durban.
