The Blitzboks recovered from opening the Toulouse Sevens with a loss to France when they hammered rivals Fiji on Friday night.
Having suffered a heavy defeat to hosts France in their Pool C opener, the South Africa were faced with a do-or-die match against Fiji.

This time, the Blitzboks made it count, scoring two tries in each half to claim a 24-7 victory and keep their cup playoff hopes alive as they prepare for a final pool match against the USA on Saturday.

As the rain bucketed down in Toulouse, the Blitzboks made the most of their opportunities and Fiji’s ill discipline to take a 12-0 lead into the break thanks to tries from Dewald Human and Mfundo Ndlovu.
While Fiji tried to fight back in the second half, Blitzboks rocket Shilton van Wyk took full advantage of a rare error from veteran Jerry Tuwai to score South Africa’s third try, before Ricardo Duarttee put the game to bed with a strike in the final minute.
South Africa finished the opening day in second place in the pool and were set to face the USA in a crunch match at 1.49pm on Saturday afternoon.
