Bordeaux-Begles have confirmed the signing of a key Sharks coaching staff member on the eve of a Champions Cup rematch between the teams in Durban.
Bordeaux announced on Tuesday that Yannick Bru, who joined the Sharks pre-season as a breakdown consultant for the 2022-23 campaign, will be the French Top 14 club’s new manager from next season.
Club president Laurent Marti also confirmed the arrival of Thibault Giroud as director of performance. Bru and Giroud have both put pen to paper on four-year deals.

Bru is a former France international and a dual Champions Cup winner with Toulouse. He has coached at the highest level, as forwards coach for France for five years and five years at Toulouse, before spending another four years as head coach at Bayonne.
The Sharks host Bordeaux at Kings Park on Saturday, after Neil Powell’s troops claimed an impressive win over the French side in France on 17 December.
